The Exile III screenshot brings back so many good memories. The Exile games, exactly how they were at release with their graphics, resolution and controls, still hold up as excellent roleplaying games and an excellent user experience even in 2021. It's crazy to me how there are rougelike RPGs that have been in early access/alpha for years developed by a full team of experienced people with modern knowledge, workflow and technology; and these games still don't hold a candle to the Exile trilogy. I hope that sometime this century there will be a stable port to Windows 10 (and/or beyond) as the only way I found to revisit these memories was by attempting and only partially succeeding at running Windows 98 in a virtual machine.
I remember many happy hours playing Exile: Escape from the Pit in the late 90's. My mom had a Mac, which at the time meant that it was nearly impossible to find any games that would run on it. Fortunately, Exile was there for all my dungeon-crawl needs :D
I remember pirating Exile 3 back in the 90's. Played it so much I felt bad and actually bought it. This was back when my money came from birthday gifts so it's probably the highest praise I can offer, lol. Backed Queens Wish 2, looking forward to what you having coming.
DUDE JEFF! I have one or two of your games and I loved the youtube video that is up for GDC. Looking forward to listening to the shit you and your better half have to say. Keep at it!
Its more our computers changed and show them differently. Monitors of 14 to 15 inch were dominant and masked some imperfections, plus CPUs were the right speed so animations seemed more natural. I noticed the idle animations being crazy on other oldies too like Ultimas for example

I've put more time into Exile III than i have into Ultima III: Exile.
Have you ever felt like making a scifi or Cyberpunk RPG?
The old bottom feeder was/is the best game design/business blog out there. Glad you're back at it here!
By the way is it still possible to find "legacy" versions of Exile games ?
I remember searching on Spiderweb Soft website but the games sold there looked different from the old shareware I used to play years ago...

Glad to have seen this, I'll always read.
That screenshot was a great hook to click on the link. The pony is ok too
Someone should do a blog on why the Conflagration spell existed in Exile 3. :)
But seriously.... :)
So excited!
It's always inspiring to read, watch and play your things. Yay to this blog!
